The last of the Pirate cXc Winter Night Races is looming...
Custom handmade trophy's, booze, prizes and a night of racing and shenanigans you'll attempt to remember.

Rain or Shine...

I finally received that last of the parts needed (Chris King Inset 7 headset) to get the Kona Raijin SS built-up for the 2013 season. Of course, as foretold, when you get a new steed it is sure to rain - and rain it did. But, when you have a new bike you have to take it out and ride it. So I went for about a 15 mile spin got fully soaked and totally stoked. Never let the weather dampen your spirits. The Raijin rides like a dream.

Soulshine...

I really miss climbing. It was my life for so long. Climbing embeds itself into your very soul. It keeps you totally psyched on life. Now Living in Kansas, choosing to have a family, my focus moved to riding bikes...but it's far from the same energy, the same human beings (yet slightly simular). The short video clip gets me so flipping pumped to get back on the rock that I can hardly contain myself. Seriously, THIS is where my soul shines through most. I had to sneak in a piece of my other world - to share it with you, with whom I share the love of cycling. I would feel most selfish otherwise. Enjoy this little piece of pure awesomeness (filmed on one of the hardest and most true-to-the-sport climbs in the world).

Tonight I start climbing again. Super pumped!!!

Gods Country...

Check out this interview with Chris Locke, the man behind some of the areas best race events HERE.
This is a screen Shot from a recent article on Prologue's website with The SingleSpeedPirate front and center, sporting a Cowtown Kit during the 2009 Gods Country Fat Tire Festival. How I miss that old Rock Lobster Single Speed...she was overcome with an early demise during a lost battle - the classic roof top rack/garage collision. Argh! A forced change to a back-up 29er I had laying around and there was no looking back.
Chris The 'Dirt Dobber' really puts his heart and soul into the events he promotes. He and his family are devoted to providing a helluva great time for us locals - I for one appreciate the heck out of what they do and challenge each and every one of you to join me in racing one of their local events. First up, as mentioned is the Gods Country Duathlon & Fat Tire Festival followed by my favorite local race of the season - Bonebender. I hope to see all of you out supporting the local race scene & having a great time.

4 psi...

It was a great weekend in KC for some snow biking. Shawnee Mission Park trails were open and had received enough foot traffic to pack down a nice tread that was good to ride, yet pushed our envelope of fitness. We rolled out both Saturday and Sunday - Saturday being perfect and Sunday being pretty warm, slick and slushy. In the later conditions you have to stay in the saddle, even with 4 lbs of pressure in your tires, to maintain traction. A helluva a workout and good time, including but not limited to the mega hike-a-bike we did to get out of Red and MaxiThads multiple crashes -  with WhiteMikeThe Silent Killer and MaxiThad.
